Danang (40 km north)

The "Mouth of the Han River", a formerly important port, is home to the Cham Museum, the largest display of Cham art in the world, the Cao Dai Church and the Danang Cathedral built in 1923. Most notable, the Marble Mountain, also known as the 5 elements mountain, once an important religious Cham spot and an ideal base for guerrillas during the war, with its commanding views of Danang Bay.

Hue

The imperial city (120 km north): Capital of Vietnam during the Nguyen Dynasty, is built on the banks of the Perfume River on the same principles of the Forbidden Palace in Beijing.
