Our driver will pick you up at your hotel in Saigon and transfer you to Can Tho in the Mekong Delta. The journey takes about three and a half hours passing by green paddy fields and bustling towns stretched along the road. During your trip you will cross the Mekong by the new My Thuan suspension bridge, symbol of the emerging, and by the traditional Vietnamese ferry. You may also make the trip from Saigon to Can Tho on board the Russian Hydrofoil of Greenlines that links the two cities every day.

Upon your arrival in Can Tho, you will discover our VICTORIA CAN THO HOTEL set in magnificent gardens by the riverside. Early in the morning we will start our boat cruise in a traditional river boat to the famous Cai Rang Floating Market. Hundreds of boats meet every morning near Can Tho, on the Hau River, bringing fresh produces such as exotic fruits and vegetables. Watch this colourful scene as the sun rises and bargain a bit to buy some fresh mangoes or juicy pineapples. Hiking or biking on quiet country roads through the lush countryside, you will encounter tiny villages, and enchanting orchards and vegetable gardens where you will give yourself a treat by tasting delicious exotic fruits. |

Once your journey is over, you will be greeted at the VICTORIA CHAU DOC HOTEL by our charming staff and fresh welcome drink. In the morning, a small sampan will be waiting for you at the private jetty of the hotel. Enjoy your cruise and discover one of the wonders of Chau Doc, hundreds of floating houses. While exploring inside one of these houses, you will be amazed to learn that under the houses are cages for breeding fish. Continuing your cruise, you will encounter Phu Hiep, a Cham stilt house village with several mosques, including the "Mubarak", a gift from the Egyptian President. Take a look at the women weaving traditional silk costumes or "sarongs" that you may buy as a souvenir of this eclectic region. |
In the afternoon, our staff will drive you to the mystic Sam Mountain. Explore this 230 metre high sacred hill and it hundreds of temples, pagodas and tombs, with a mix of Chinese, Cham and Khmer cultures. Today, Sam Mountain is a pilgrimage site for Buddhists coming to pray and retreat from all over Vietnam. Visit the main pagoda, the "Blessed Lady" at the bottom of the hill. In the midst of the incense’s fragrance and smoke, you will see people touching the cape of the statue for blessing.

When reaching the top of the mountain, take your time to relax and admire the spectacular panorama of the landscape, surrounded by paddy fields, the 7 mounts in front of you and on your left, is Cambodia. Returning to the Victoria Chau Doc, to make the most of the hotel’s facilities: enjoy a refreshing swim in our pool, watch the boats and the bustling life on the Bassac River or have a traditional Vietnamese massage to relax yourself after this action-packed day. |

Take advantage of your last few hours at Chau Doc to walk to its fantastic bustling market. All your five senses will be constantly solicited by colours, shouting, strong and sweet fragrances and unknown tastes. You may be tempted by some of the souvenirs and don’t hesitate to come back by cyclo to the hotel. Look closer and you will see that the cyclos of Chau Doc are very different from those of Saigon. One more of the wonders of this region which never fails to surprise!
