TRACKING THE RED RIVER October 2004
As I swerved my way through heavily over laden backpackers and women selling bottles of water, I began to wonder whether the premium Victoria Express train to Sapa was worth the extra money. After all we are all part of the same train that snakes its way up the country north to Lao Cai, just over 30Km from Sapa. But as my lost soul was collected by the train supervisor and whisked away to my luxurious compartment, it soon became clear that the Victoria Express is not simply about traveling from point ‘a’ to ‘b’.
The night-train

The hotel has been open for six years and has 75 rooms and two suite, although there are plans a ffot to convert some of ....

IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER - Victoria Chau Doc September 2004
By far the most interesting way to cross from Vietnam to Cambodia is by boat along the Bassac River from the Mekong Delta. The most up-market way to do the trip is to stay at the Victoria Chau Doc Hotel and then take their express boat.
It took about five hours to travel the hair-raising journey through the Delta over innumerable bridges and tiny tributaries from Saigon by car. At times I felt that I would never make it to my destination. I arrived at the hotel around 3pm to be greeted with a jasmine garland and a refreshing fruite ....
HEART OF DARKNESS - From Vietnam to Cambodia by boat September 2004
The Mekong river snakes its way through South East Asia from its chicken footed delta in the South of Vietnam. Nowadays a trip along it is emeshed with images from our recent past. Can any tourist come here ignorant of Apocolypse Now and that long trip along the river to our collection terror? Hollywood-laden images cloud our view of the landscape more than the mud cloudes the river.
I decided to take a short trip up the river to Cambodia from Chau Doc in the Vietnamese Delta. Technically I sailed up the Bassac, rather than the Mekong, but the waters ....
Victoria’s food, setting are unrivalled Sunday 08/08/2004
With so many restaurants competing for attention in Hoi An, what’s a tourist to do? Visit them all, of course but save your last night for dinner on the beach at the Victoria.
When my companion and I made a reservation for the beach dinner at the Victoria hoi An Beach Resort restaurant, we weren’t quite sure what to expect.
To our surprise, what we got was just that – a dinner on the beach. Not overlooking it, not on a deck jutting out from the hotel, but at the table blunked down as if from the sky with its legs ....

ELEPHANT CROSSING July 2004
Larger than life? You bet. Meet Darling, a prominent staff member at one of Vietnam’s premier beach resorts.
Gently lapping waves, lush palm trees and miles of white sand: Hoi An’s Cua Dai beach is stunning. But head down to the far end of the beach beach and you’re in for a surprise – a three-tonne bundle of fun is waiting to take you for a ride.
Darling, the Victoria Hoi An’s resident elephant, has been the hotel most treasured staff member for two years. Born in captivity in a small village along the Cambodian border in 1971, Darling ....
VICTORIA ANGKOR HOTEL Mai - Juin 2004

Bonne nuit CAN THO HOTEL VICTORIA Février 2004
The Victoria’s green revolution 2004
Soon after becoming a crowded tour destination, Vietnam began to realise it was facing serious environmental issues – namely the flow of tourists and the waste and pollutionfrom the services catering to them. In recent years, the nation’s beaches have become littered with cigarette filters and drink bottles, while visitors to Vietnam’s forests are more likely to spot Coke cans or candy wrappers than rare wildlife.
While the blame for the desecration of Vietnam’s natural beauty could be focused on everyone from the government to the visitors themselves, there are businesses out there striving to make a difference. One of ....
Le choix d’Air France Octobre-Novembre 2003 – No. 96
Good morning Vietnam!

LE MEKONG EST UN MIRACLE DE LA VIE 7 Avril 2001 - No.17623
